Baskin-Robbins will launch Coffee Shop Cold Brew ice cream as its flavor of the month in September. The ice cream, made with cold brew coffee concentrate, will be available in time for National Coffee Ice Cream Day on Sept. 6.

CANTON, Mass. -- Baskin-Robbins will offer a new flavor in September that will allow customers to get their coffee fix without having to decide between dripped or pressed.

Just in time for National Coffee Ice Cream Day on Sept. 6, Baskin-Robbins will debut Coffee Shop Cold Brew as the flavor of the month. Baskin-Robbins bills it as “the perfect pick me up – morning, noon night, after school, after work, literally whenever.”

The new flavor is made from real cold brew coffee concentrate, topped with ultra fluffy cold foam flavored ice cream and swirls of cinnamon sweet cream, the company said Wednesday.

Cold brew is made with cold foam favored ice cream topping. Baskin-Robbins touts that the ice cream chain is one of the first to bring cold foam to an ice cream.

While the flavor is set to be a limited release, fan favorites have come back before. June’s featured flavor, Cookie Monster, for example, was brought back to shops, Allrecipes noted.

Founded in California in the mid 1940s, the chain marked its 50th anniversary in 2020. It now is a subsidiary of Inspire Brands, which owns several other popular food brands, including Arby’s, Dunkin’, Buffalo Wild Wings and Jimmy John’s. It is headquartered in Canton, Massachusetts.

Baskin-Robbins has a history of creating innovative flavors. In its early years, the chain of ice cream shops billed itself as having 31 flavors. In reality, it has developed more than 1,400 flavors – with Coffee Shop Cold Brew its newest.

“As we shift from the summer to the bustle of back-to-school, we wanted to create a scoop that gives you the pick-me-up you needed,” the company said Wednesday. “Coffee Shop Cold Brew taps into the cold brew craze that has been hitting coffee shops big and small.”
